Dr. Richard Freedman, VMD – Medical Director
Dr. Freedman has been in practice for over 38 years. He moved here after graduating from the Univ. of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He was born and raised in PA. His enthusiasm for building relationships and bonds between his clients and patients is as strong now as it was in the beginning. His professional areas of interest involve surgery, dentistry, ear disease, rehab therapy and orthopedics. He is an online consultant to veterinarians all across the country. His non professional interests include target shooting, vintage British autos, boating, dancing, and personal training. He has 2 adult children, a daughter and a son, about whom he is proud beyond description.
Dr. Farah Haynes, DVM
Dr. Farah Haynes was born and raised in northern Virginia. She is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia. She received her veterinary degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Haynes spent four years practicing small animal medicine and surgery in Los Angeles, California before returning to Virginia to join our team.
Dr. Haynes enjoys the challenges of all small animal medicine and surgery. Her passions include internal medicine, dentistry, feline medicine, and client education. She strives the strengthen the human-animal bond with high-quality medicine and open communication.
In her free time, Dr. Haynes enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter. She also loves to travel, cook, and watch college football. Her furry family members are all rescues from the different places she has lived, and include two cats and one sweet dog!
Dr. Jenna Long, DVM
Dr. Jenna Long obtained her Bachelors of Science in Agriculture and Animal Science from the University of Georgia in 2010. She then continued at The University of Georgia for veterinary school and graduated with her DVM in 2014. Dr. Long practiced for one year in North Carolina before moving to San Diego, California where she has practiced in small animal medicine and surgery for the last 4 years. Her professional interests include medicine focusing on preventative medicine, geriatric medicine, and client education.
Dr. Long enjoys spending her time off exploring where they live with her husband, son, and 2 dogs. She is also a huge UGA Football fan and can be found watching the Bulldawgs play most Saturdays in the Fall.
Our Support Staff
Cherish Kaylor– Practice Manager
Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, Cherish has been in the veterinary field for over 17 years. You may see her up front answering the phone or in the back assisting the doctors and technicians. She is now taking on the role of Practice Manager and continues to grow with her team. On her days off, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking or swimming and skiing in the winter with her son, Brooks. She also has a Chihuahua named Lucy and a cat named Wolfie!
Aimee has been an LVT and has worked at AVHCC since 1999. She currently lives with her husband, Derek, her daughter, Cara, and their cat, Katie. In her free time, she likes to knit, do crossword puzzles, and bird watch.
Rebecca Fuller-Lead Tech
Rebecca started working in the veterinary field back in 1992. Originally from Massachusetts she moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida in 1992 where she first started working in the veterinary field. Then in 1995 she moved to Atlanta, Georgia and raised two beautiful children. In 2013 she moved to Waynesboro, Virginia and joined the team at Albemarle Veterinary Health Care Center. She has 4 cats ranging from 2 years old to 16 years old, and one spunky Golden Retriever named Marley. In her off time, she enjoys spending time outside hiking the beautiful trails of Virginia.
Originally from Eastern Pennsylvania, Morgan moved to Charlottesville in January 2018. She earned her veterinary technician degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College in P.A. in 2017. On her days off, she likes to explore Virginia with her boyfriend and their dog, Rylee, travel, and snuggle with her 3 guinea pigs Remington, Gizmo, and Penelope.
A Charlottesville local, Tori grew up riding horses and playing sports. In college she played softball and earned her degree in Sports Management. Upon graduating, she worked full time at a large horse farm traveling the east coast, where she discovered that animal medicine was her true passion. After a year, she got a job as an assistant at a large animal equine center, and later transferred into small animal practice. In 2015, she completed the Veterinary Technician Program at Northern Virginia Community College. When not at work, Tori enjoys spending time with her daughter, Charlotte, her 3 horses, and 3 Jack Russell Terriers on her families farm.
Vanessa Russell- Reception
Born and raised in Charlottesville, VA, Vanessa lives here with her boyfriend Will and their dog, Juda. She enjoys spending time traveling around the area with Juda, cooking, and crafting. When she is not at work you are likely to catch her checking out some of the fantastic food and music Charlottesville has to offer.
