Dr. Richard Freedman- Medical Director
Dr. Freedman has been in practice for 38 years. He moved here after graduating from the Univ. of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He was born and raised in Pa. His enthusiasm for building relationships and bonds between his clients and patients, is as strong now as it was in the beginning. His professional areas of interest involve surgery, dentistry, ear disease, rehab therapy and orthopedics. He is an online consultant to veterinarians all across the country. His non professional interests include target shooting, vintage British autos, boating, dancing, and personal training. He has 2 adult children, a daughter and a son, about whom he is proud beyond description.
Farah Haynes, DVM
Dr. Farah Haynes was born and raised in northern Virginia. She is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia. She received her veterinary degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Haynes has spent the last four years practicing small animal medicine and surgery in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Haynes enjoys the challenges of all small animal medicine and surgery. Her passions include internal medicine, dentistry, feline medicine, and client education. She strives the strengthen the human-animal bond with high-quality medicine and open communication.
In her free time, Dr. Haynes enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter. She also loves to travel, cook, and watch college football. Her furry family members are all rescues from the different places she has lived, and include two cats and one sweet dog!

Cherish Kaylor– Practice Manager
Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, Cherish has been in the veterinary field for over 17 years. You may see her up front answering the phone or in the back assisting the doctors and technicians. She is now taking on the role of Practice Manager and continues to grow with her team. On her days off, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking or swimming and skiing in the winter with her son, Brooks. She also has a Chihuahua named Bianca!
Katelyn was born and raised in Northern VA but has spent the past 6 years in Harrisonburg VA while she completed her education. In that time she earned a BS in biology from James Madison University as well as an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Blue Ridge Community College.
Over the years, Katelyn and her family have raised 5 Labradors for the organization Guiding Eyes for the Blind. In her spare time, she enjoys bird watching, pet sitting, reading, and cuddling up with her tuxedo DSH cat, Jack-Jack.
I have been an LVT and have worked at Avhcc since 1999. I currently live with my husband, Derek, of 18 years, my 9 year old daughter, Cara, and my 17 year old cat, Nova. I like to knit, do crossword puzzles and bird watch.
Emily Abramson, LVT
Emily was born and raised in Arkansas, in the small town of Holly Grove, population 500. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from University of Virginia in 2007 and completed the LVT program at Blue Ridge Community College in May of 2013.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys horseback riding and traveling with her dog Savannah.
My name is Rebecca Fuller, I started working in the veterinary field back in 1992. Originally from Massachusetts. Moved to ft Lauderdale , Florida in 1992 where I first started working in the veterinary field. Then in 1995 moved to Atlanta Georgia and raised to beautiful children. In 2013 moved to Waynesboro Virginia. I have recently joined the team at Albemarle veterinary health care center . I have 4 cats ranging from 2 years old to 16 years old . I enjoy spending time outside hiking the beautiful trails of Virginia.
Originally from Eastern Pennsylvania, I moved to Charlottesville in January 2018. I earned my veterinary technician degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College in P.A. in 2017. On my days off, I like to explore Virginia with my boyfriend and dog Rylee, travel, and snuggle with my 3 guinea pigs Remington, Gizmo, and Penelope.
